If you are over 25 you might not speak the language of Efe Ezekiel, Creator Ushine Ishine but you'll understand and admire the results of her endeavours. She's helped thousands of kids and young adults to reach their potential, to shine more brightly, to be happy, to be brave, to be fearless!
Eve Ezekiel is an award winning youth mentor. Her most recent nomination is for the Inspiration of the year award at the BEAM AWARDS, Black, Asian & Minority Ethnic groups, Awards 2016 which will be televised on Wednesday 12 October ITV1 and hosted by the legendary Sir Trevor McDonald OBE and entertainer, Alisha Dixon. She was featured on The Sunday Times Maserati 100 2015 list. Centre For Entrepreneurs, The Sunday Times and Maserati. Furthermore, nominated for the National Diversity Award 2012 & Women of Africa 2012. And cited as one of the 100 people in the UK on the Independent on Sunday's Happy List 2014.
So, what does she actually do?
She talks to young people, either in groups, or as individuals and finds out who they really are and what's holding them back. She then sets about the task of helping them make their lives much better. She encourages the youth to be individual, to be human. "This is my life. This is my time to shine". On the other side of the spectrum Efe teaches organisations, whether they are education institutions, future employers, media owners or providers of goods and services to speak to youth in their language, to create meaningful interaction. She has worked with MTV, The Prince's Trust, Mosaic, YouTubers followed by millions, Youth presenters, Barclays and PWC amongst many people and organisations to reach out and help kids, who are often in challenging circumstances to shine more brightly.
Similar to Oprah Winfrey, Efe's ethos is that people who help others get something special out of the process also. Helping others makes you shine more brightly. She'd like to meet Kanye West and show him just how much he could help young people. A very special kind of British grown mentoring is about to be exported to young people across the world.
